Alma Hybrid Fractional CO2 Laser
This revolutionary treatment which combines the rejuvenating properties CO2 laser targeting pitted scars and more advanced signs of ageing by helping to resurface the skin . This is then combined with 1570 wavelength which works with thermal energy to improve the skins texture, reducing the appearance of pores and thickening of the dermis to help with the signs of ageing.
This treatment is always concluded with the next generation trans epidermal delivery system Impact which uses Ultrasound to create acoustic pressure to help cosmeceutical serums to penetrate more deeply into the channels create by the laser treatment such as Hyaluronic acids, peptides and retinols.
This treatment is fully customisable to allow your practitioner to harness the right amount of each wave length that would be most suited to your skin concerns such as on an active acne skin we would use more of the 1570 wave length to aid in killing the acne bacteria and reduce pore size. Where as on a more scarred skin we would use more of the CO2 wavelength to ablate the skin and coagulate the area to resurface and skin.
CO2 laser – the most optimal blend of ablative, coagulative and thermal laser technology for precise focus and fractional therapy.
1570nm laser – a powerful non-ablative laser which creates a thermal effect, promoting new dermal synthesis, whilst leaving the epidermis intact, thus minimising downtime.
IMPACT – for Trans Epidermal Delivery (TED), this patented ultrasound technology creates an acoustic pressure which enables the delivery of cosmeceutical products to the skin through the micro-channels, which have been created by the CO2 laser in Alma Hybrid™.
In addition to these powerful technologies, smart software serves as a tool which enables your practitioner to create a bespoke treatment programme by setting specific parameters, depending on the individual’s skin type.
We begin this treatment with the use of topical anaesthetic cream and then occlude is the increase its efficacy. This will be kept on the skin for 40 minutes prior to the treatment.
We then work with settings that focus on the key concern which can be adapted to target a variety of different concerns within the same session. Such as a denser targeted CO2 focused setting on pitted scarring and then a more rejuvenating setting for all over texture improvement using more 1570 settings.
After the full face has been treated even around the eyes and the skin around the lips we then apply the appropriate serum to the skin and use the impact device to push products deeply into the skin which can aid in healing and improve results.
Your practitioner then applies sunscreen prior to you leaving and you may have swelling, erythema and grid marks over the area treated.
During your down time which can be between 2-7 days depending in the treatment delivered you can experience itchy skin, scabs, swelling and redness. This is totally normal and part of the healing process. Full aftercare will be provided.
As we use numbing cream to aid in making the treatment as comfortable as possible however mild discomfort can be felt depending on a clients pain tolerance.
You can expect to start to see results within the first month and they will continue to develop over the next 3-6 months As the skin begins to synthesise the collagen and the dermis starts to thicken scars will become more shallow and overall appearance of the skin will become more even.
The downtime can range from 48 hours to 7 days depending on treatment settings.
This can be anything from scabs, to inflammation and redness.
We advise that you wait 48 hours before applying make up.
We advise depending on skin concern 2 sessions for skin rejuvenation and 5-6 for deep scarring.
We advise you wait two weeks before your Alma hybrid treatment and two weeks after.
We recommend 6 weeks between sessions.
Immediately after treatment:
- Your face will feel hot. You can soothe your hot skin by placing icepacks for 10 seconds on 5 seconds off. This will ensure you do not trap heat into the tissue. You can do this for up to 30 minutes only.
- In order to prevent undue swelling, try to keep head elevated when lying down by using an additional pillow or two.
- When looking at your skin up-close, you may notice a “grid” texture to your skin. This is completely normal, and each of those microscopic dots represents an area of skin that was treated today (the criss-cross pattern marks the actual path of the laser beam as it treated your skin).
- Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated (diuretics such as alcohol or caffeine should be avoided).
- If your skin feels tight or itchy, apply a Bifan* liberally, as many times as needed (Leave your moisturiser and sunscreen in the refrigerator! It makes applications feel especially soothing).
- Your skin is especially fragile and needs to be shielded from the sun. Sunscreen a minimum of 50 is a must but only applied after 24 hours to ensure you do not block the channels created by the laser.
Next day:
- If your skin feels tight, dry, or itchy, continue to apply Biafin or SOS repair as often as needed (you will likely be applying moisturiser at least 3 times a day).
- Make sure to apply ample sunscreen after washing face in the AM after 24 hours (even if you are not going to be outdoors, you can still be exposed to incremental sunlight from windows or being in the car).
- If you are experiencing uncomfortable swelling, any over-the-counter anti- inflammatory can be beneficial in reducing puffiness (the most common areas of swelling are under the eyes and the cheekbones – do not worry, if this happens to you – it will subside within 72 hours!)
- You may notice that the “grid” texture is more pronounced today, and possibly turning brown, with a rough, sand-papery texture. This is completely normal and is simply a sign of your skin’s healing process.
Days 2 through 7 after treatment:
- Your swelling should be going down; however, it is not uncommon for some puffiness to remain for up to 7-days after treatment especially around the eye area.
- Antihistamines can be taken for up to 7 days if needed.
