Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are soft, gel-like substances that are injected under the skin to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, restore lost volume, and enhance your natural features. As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity, which can lead to sagging, wrinkles, and hollow areas. Fillers help bring back that youthful look by filling in these areas.
What Can Dermal Fillers Do?
- Smooth away wrinkles and fine lines
- Plump and enhance your lips
- Restore volume to cheeks and under-eye hollows
- Improve facial contours, like the jawline and chin
- Rejuvenate hands for a more youthful appearance
Types of Fillers We Use
- Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: The most common type of filler. It’s naturally found in your skin and gives immediate, soft results. Popular brands include Juvederm, Restylane and Stylage.
- Collagen Biostimulators: These fillers, like Sculptra, stimulate your body to produce its own collagen, giving you gradual, longer-lasting results.
- Plinest® is a type of skin booster treatment designed to rejuvenate your skin from within. Similar to Rejuran, it utilises a powerful and natural regenerative ingredient known as polynucleotides (PN). PN are a type of DNA molecule that occurs naturally
- Discuss your goals: Whether you want to reduce wrinkles, plump your lips, or enhance your cheeks, we’ll discuss what you want to achieve.
- Assess your facial structure: We’ll evaluate your skin, facial features, and the areas where you’d like to see improvement.
- Select the best filler: Based on your needs, we’ll choose the right type of dermal filler, like hyaluronic acid or collagen biostimulators, and the appropriate injection areas. We work with a large range such as Profhilo, Juvederm, Plinest, Botox and Stylage.
-
- Cleansing the skin: The treatment area will be thoroughly cleaned to prevent any risk of infection.
- Numbing the area: While the procedure is typically not painful, we may apply a topical numbing cream to make the process even more comfortable. Some fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce any discomfort during the injections.
- Review your health: We’ll go over your medical history and any medications you’re taking to ensure you’re a good candidate for dermal fillers.
- Once you’re ready, the actual injection process begins:
- Injection technique: Using a very fine needle or blunt-tip cannula, the filler is carefully injected into the targeted areas. This part of the process is precise and tailored to your facial anatomy.
- Layering and shaping: Depending on the treatment area, we may inject small amounts of filler at different depths to sculpt and smooth the skin for a natural look.
- Massage: After the injections, the practitioner may gently massage the area to ensure the filler is evenly distributed and smooth.
- After the injection, you’ll see immediate improvements in areas like volume and contour. Some types of fillers, like those that stimulate collagen, may take a few weeks to show the full results.
- The entire process, including preparation and the injections, typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.
- Most people find the procedure comfortable and are often surprised at how quick it is!
Yes! Our goal is to enhance your natural beauty with subtle, noticeable improvements, not drastic changes.
The longevity of dermal fillers depends on the type of filler used and the treatment area. Most fillers last between 6 and 18 months, while some collagen-stimulating fillers can last up to 2 years or more.
Most patients experience only mild discomfort. We apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure, and many fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce any discomfort during the injections.
Common side effects include mild swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness at the injection site. These usually subside within a few days. Serious complications are rare when performed by an experienced practitioner.
There is minimal downtime after dermal filler treatment. You can return to your daily activities right away, although it’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun exposure for 24-48 hours.
Yes, dermal fillers are FDA-approved and considered safe when administered by a qualified and trained professional. However, like any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to have the treatment done by an experienced practitioner to minimize risks.

Yes! If you are unhappy with the results of a hyaluronic acid filler (like Juvederm or Restylane), it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down the filler safely and quickly. However, fillers like calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse) or collagen stimulators (Sculptra) cannot be reversed, but adjustments can be made over time.
The frequency of treatments depends on the type of filler and your desired results. Most people return for touch-ups every 6 to 18 months, but collagen-stimulating fillers may require fewer touch-ups as they last longer
Yes! Dermal fillers can be combined with other cosmetic treatments like Botox, chemical peels, or laser treatments to achieve a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. During your consultation, we can discuss the best combination of treatments to meet your aesthetic goals.
Once your treatment is complete, we’ll provide aftercare instructions to help you get the most out of your filler and ensure a smooth recovery. Here are some tips:
- Swelling and bruising: It’s normal to have mild swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection sites. These typically subside within a few days.
- Ice packs: Applying a cold compress for 10-15 minutes can help reduce swelling or bruising.
- Avoid pressure: Try to avoid touching or pressing on the treated areas for at least 24 hours.
- Stay upright: For the first few hours after treatment, avoid lying down to prevent filler migration.
- No heavy exercise: Avoid intense physical activity and direct sun exposure for 24-48 hours post-treatment, as this can increase swelling.
- Follow-up: Depending on the type of filler used, we might recommend a follow-up appointment to monitor your results or schedule any additional sessions.
