Laser for Red Facial Veins
DYE VL™ Laser For The Treatment of Red Facial Veins and Facial Redness
Vascular lesions and redness such as rosacea are a common condition that affect both men and women alike. Our DYE VL™ treatment is an advanced form of intense pulsed light treatment that can significantly reduce redness, flushing, red facial veins and port wine stains.
This treatment is the perfect solution if you are suffering with red veins anywhere on the face or red, flushing skin.
The DYE VL™ laser emits light energy that can specifically target the haemoglobin that is responsible for causing facial redness, flushing and red veins, whilst surrounding tissue is kept in-tact. When absorbed, the laser light is converted to heat, which is transferred to the vessel wall causing coagulation and closure of the vessel.
Through the body’s natural metabolic processes, the treated vessel is filtered out of the body.
Alma Lasers has developed the DyeVL Laser attachment for the Harmony XL Pro laser to eliminate spider veins and vascular lesions using a unique wavelength of light. This laser selectively heats red blood vessels or thread veins, sparing the surrounding skin and other tissues. The targeted heat causes the blood to coagulate, leading the tiny veins to collapse and eventually be absorbed and removed by the body over time.
Alma’s Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT™), an advanced form of Intense Pulse Light (IPL), ensures that no light energy is wasted, making the treatment more effective. Dye lasers have become the gold standard for treating vascular and vein-related issues.
The treatment also features contact cooling, delivered through a cold sapphire tip that cools the skin as the DyeVL is administered. This reduces pain and minimizes the risk of damage to the skin’s surface by keeping the area cold throughout the procedure.
Treatment is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV. However, prior to treatment a free consultation is provided to determine your suitability for the treatment.
Sessions typically last about 15-30 minutes, but this may vary depending on the size of the area being treated. There will be little, or no pain associated with your Dye VL treatment and numbing is not required.
The area will be cleansed to remove lotions, cosmetics or perfumes and appropriate eye protection is necessary. An ultrasound gel is applied which will feel cool while the hand piece delivers precise pulses of light to the targeted area. When the hand piece is passed over your skin, you will feel warmth, and you may feel an elastic band sensation on the skin. The area will cool down very quickly after the treatment. The treatment itself is fast and can even be done on your lunch break.
After treatment, a sunscreen is applied and you can return to your normal daily activities.
At your skin consultation, we will give you specific instructions to follow before your treatment pertaining to sun exposure, proper sunscreen and additional pre-treatment care to follow.
We will work with you to develop a treatment program to meet your goals. The number of treatments that you require to achieve your desired outcome will be discussed at consultation. Results can be seen after 1 treatment, but we recommend a minimum of 4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. Smaller veins around the nasal area may require fewer treatments. We can then advise on follow up treatments (such as once a year) to maintain your rejuvenated skin.
Immediately after treatment, there may be redness and sometimes swelling at the treatment area, this may feel like mild sunburn and is completely normal. Often, red veins are immediately less noticeable. If any pigment is present, it will become darker over the course of 3-7 days following the treatment. The spots will then begin to clear which will leave a clearer more even skin tone. If mild swelling occurs, you may use cold compresses for 10 minutes at a time, as needed in the first 24 hours. You can go back to normal activities immediately after treatment, but we advise avoiding direct sunlight for 14 days post treatment.
- The application of a cool pack during the first few hours after treatment will reduce any discomfort.
- Apply only Biafine to the treated area
- A tinted mosituriser may be used immediately after the treatment (The CC cream by pH Formula)
- Avoid sun exposure 4 weeks before and after treatment to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation or darker pigmentation.
- Use sun screen chemical or physical SPF50+ at all times throughout the course of treatment.
- Avoid swimming until the treated area is fully healed
- Avoid any heat treatments e.g. hotbaths, saunas, steam ,infra-red saunas
8. Avoid exercise for the first 48hours after treatment.
9. Avoid picking scabs if formed
10.Avoid using retinoids for 7 days before treatment and 5 days post treatment11.Immediately after treatment, there may be redness and swelling at the treatment area, this may feel like mild sunburn.
12.If pigment is present, it will become darker and form a scab that will eventually shed away. This is a normal effect of treatment.
13.Swelling may also occur which is a normal response and part of the healing process.Particularly on the cheek area and under the eyes, but will reduce over the course of a few days. We recommend sleeping with an extra pillow to decrease swelling.
14.You can take antihistamines for 3 days if required
