Anyone can get a resurfacing facial, even if their skin is not healthy. However, if you really want great results, we recommend prepping the skin with the pHformula homecare products at least 2 weeks prior to having the facial. This will get your skin used to the different acids used in the facial and your skin tolerance levels will be much higher. It is important to refrain from using any harsh exfoliants such as retinols and AHAs for 5-7 days before having treatment.
No, you shouldn’t feel pain whilst having the treatment. Your skin may feel hot or itchy when the active ingredients are applied but this sensation is normal and won’t last for more than a few minutes. If the treatment feels very uncomfortable your practitioner can stop it at any time by removing the solution immediately.
Maybe but not always. Because the resurfacing ingredients are activated on the skin you may find that you leave the clinic looking a little pinker than usual but this varies from person to person and depends on the strength of the treatment. Generally any pinkness/redness can be covered with mineral make-up and generally subsides within a few hours.
No, the resurfacing facial is different to traditional chemical peels due to the delivery complex that ensures controlled delivery right down into the skin cells, without any negative side effects or peeling.
Everyone’s skin will respond differently to treatment and the type of treatment recommended will depend on the desired outcome. But for optimal results we recommend committing to a course of 3-6 treatments. Depending on the strength of the resurfacing facial these can be spaced 2-6 weeks apart. You should also ensure you apply a SPF which should be worn for 5-10 days following treatment when your skin will be more sensitive to UVA & UVB damage.
